Transport to Tübingen

The nearest international airport is Stuttgart. If your are arriving on a flight to Stuttgart, the best connection to Tübingen is offered by the bus line 828 (pdf timetable, in German), which leaves directly outside the terminal and ends at the main train station in Tübingen.

Larger, and also within reach of a 2-3 hour train ride from Tübingen is Frankfurt International. The best connection from there to Tübingen is via high-speed rail link from the airport to Stuttgart main station, then on from there with a local train. See “by train” for more information.

Detailed train information is available on the website of Deutsche Bahn. Use the pulldown on the top of that page to select your preferred language, then enter your starting station (e.g. “Frankfurt Flughafen”) and end station (“Tübingen Hauptbahnhof”) in the relevant fields at left.

The main train station is at the southern end of the city centre, within reach of either bus, taxi to the Hotel and Max-Planck-Campus.

You need to take the bus (line 3) from Tübingen Train Station to the Max-Planck-Campus.

  • KONCEPT HOTEL Neue Horizonte 90€/night in a single room, €105/night in a double room. Breakfast is not included. (500 m from the venue)

  • Hotel Meteora is a middle-class hotel in town offering 25 beds ranging from €135/night for a triple room, €108 for a double room, including breakfast (2,8 km from the venue, 16 min by bus). In adition, they also have an apartment for  up to 4 people, starting at €58/night. (850 m from the venue)

  • Hotel Barbarina, offers a total of 36 beds in triple, double and single rooms, ranging from €72/night for a single room , €98 -115/for a double room and  €128/night in a triple room. Breakfast is not included but can be provided on site. (2,2 km from the venue, 18 min by bus).

  • Hotel IBIS offers rooms, starting from €124/night for a double room. (3,2 km from the venue, 20 min by bus)

  • Gästezimmer Wiedmann offers a total of 5 beds in a shared apartment for ranging from €80/night/person if it’s only one person to  €30/night/person if there are 5 persons sharing the apartment. Each apartment has a self-catering kitchen, but the guesthouse doesn’t offer any catering or breakfast. (2,8 km from the venue, 30 min by bus)

  • Viktor Renner Haus offers 19 beds in triple, double and single rooms, ranging from €45/night for a single room, €61/night for a double room and €73/night for a triple room. The house provides self-catering kitchens for use free of charge, but does not offer breakfast. Unfortunately, the website of the guesthouse is in German only.   • Gästehaus Albblick offers a total of 30 beds from 93 EUR/ night for a triple room to €70/night for a double room, breakfast included. (1,3 km from the venue, 10 min by bus).

  • Gästehaus GZT offers 36 beds in both shared and single rooms, ranging from €122/night for a double room to €99/night in a single room. Breakfast is not included, but can be provided for €10. (3,3 km from the venue, 25 min by bus).

  • Youth Hostel Tübingen, offers a total of 80 beds in shared rooms, starting from €33,90/night. (3,2 km from the venue, 20 min by bus).

The registration desk will be open on Monday, Aug 11th, from 7.30am to 9am (the registration desk closes at 9am, in time for the opening lecture, so please arrive early.)
